| Sunday 12 | Picnic at Hanging Rock The Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club has run this event since inception some 22 years ago. What started out as a small 'club event' has now become one of the largest single day motoring events in Victoria and attracts more than two thousand display entrants and many many more spectators. CCCV has 2 meeting points for the trip up to Hanging Rock; Meeting Point 1: Caltex Service Station on Kings Way inbound towards the city. It is located on the corner of Banks Street & Kings Way South Melbourne. Please note if you are comming from the Domain Tunnel you can not do a right turn into the service station so, turn right at York Street, which is not long after you exit on to Kings Way heading towards St Kilda, then take the third street on the left (Moray Street) and go down Moray to Banks St which is the third on the left again. Meeting Point 2: The start of the Northern Ring Road in Greensborough. Both these groups will be leaving at 6.00 am sharp so try and aim to be there by about 5.45am. We have prebooked some egg and bacon rolls at Bourkies Bake House on the cnr of High St and Forest St Woodend for 7.00am. The whole club group will leave from the bakery at about 7.30 am hopfuly giving us a clear and easy run into the show. John Bowe Driving Day Come drive your Cobra as it was born to do so - on the RACE TRACK! The John Bowe days are a great way to experience the race track, for the first time or 100th time. You have access to an instructor which is a professional racing car driver. He can give you tips on car handling, braking, lines, heal toeing, etc. Lunch is included and there is a yearly trophy for most improved up for grabs. I am hoping this becomes a yearly event for the club and the cost depends on the numbers that attend. Alpine Run 2012 The 2012 Alpine Run will once again be a highlight of our calendar. In 2012 it will be, as always over the Labour Day weekend, Friday 9/3/12 to Monday 12/3/12. Accommodation for the weekend has been organised at the following venues. Friday Yackandandah Townshiphill Motel 3729 Myrtleford Rd, Yackandandah VIC 3749 ph: (02) 6027 1467 Contact: Garry Saturday Golden Age Motel Great Alpine Rd, Omeo VIC 3898 ph: (03) 5159 1344 Contact: Billy Sunday Maffra Motor Inn 184 Johnson St, Maffra VIC 3860 ph: (03) 5147 2111 Contact: Ken Saturday nights accommodation has been booked and rooms allocated by a number of you who attended the event in 2011. Please contact the other 2 Motels quickly as they both only have 18 rooms. You will need to book with each venue separately to secure your spot. When booking please make sure you advise them you are part of the Cobra Car Club. I believe there is still 3 or 4 rooms left in Omeo and both Yackandandah and Maffra do have other motels should they be available and required. We will be organising a dinner for all 3 nights and lunch on Sunday. We will also have access to the Gippsland Vehicle Collection in Maffra on Sunday afternoon.
