Why a Cobra?
Like most Cobra owners I too saw the Ampol add and fell in love with the shape, sound and timeless shape of the Cobra. Back in 2008 my family and I were driving along and one of my three sons said “Dad there’s a Cobra you like?” and I said “when I retire I want to build one”. My wife (little did she realise), said “why wait, build one now. The rest is history... Thankfully with the power of the Internet I spent 6 months trawling all things Cobra and building etc and visited a couple of manufacturers and settled on the new (at the time) Round Tube Chassis kit from Classic Revival. I obtained my engineer/gearbox/ECU etc as a used item from a wrecked SS Commodore. Engine is still going strong.

What have you done to the car?
Once I completed the build, I then put it through the VASS Vic Roads Engineering and Rego process and its now on full rego. Since rego I had it painted by one of the CCCV club members and completed the interior. I have had it on the track a few times a year which is a great place to check any weaknesses in the car and have improved things like suspension (QA1’s) , brakes (6 Piston Fronts and 4 Piston rears) and had an ECU tune (extra 50 kilowasps). I am always tinkering with little things just for fun mainly.

What do you like doing with your car and the Cobra Club
Since 2008 I have put 35,000 kilometres on the car and drive it every chance I get, even commute to work @South Melbourne in it. I also luv getting out on the race tracks such as Winton, Phillip Island and Wakefield Park (Cobra Nationals) with my CCCV mates. We have a blast and there is a great safe environment with a high degree of respect for each other’s cars so no bashing panels etc. Just great fun.
